Fire Protection Specialist Intern (Posted: 4/12/2018)
The Fire Protection Specialist Intern provides technical support to the research & development and engineering team for existing products & services as well as in the development in new products. Provide technical support to sales force, end-users, and distributors on as-required basis.
Supports R&D in innovative and creative product solutions and is assigned tasks by the technical team in product development process from the concept phase to the pre-launch phase.
Supports R&D in product testing at the Minnetonka facility; prepares test procedures and reports under direction by R&D.
Supports R&D in providing technical assistance with various internal corporate organizations including; Manufacturing, Sales, Marketing, & Operations.
Provides support for other departmental projects as needed.
Provides technical support to field sales, authorized distributors, end users, and authorities, including but not limited to, assistance in component operation, system design issues, system parameters, troubleshooting, and system commissioning.
Support the Sales department in preparing a technical design and bills of materials for special applications to allow Sales to prepare and submit quotations to authorized distributors and customers.
Produce system and production drawings as required using software tools such as AUTOCAD and SOLIDWORKS.
Other duties specifically requested by the CTO.
Intern is currently in a college program for an engineering degree, preferably in the fire protection field
Intern in other college engineering or technical programs will be considered that are relevant to the design or manufacturing of fire protection equipment.
Proficient in AutoCAD, SOLIDWORKS, and MS OFFICE products
Reports to: chief technology officer and supports mechanical engineer, land & marine fire suppression products
