A copper-gold mining operation in South Australia chooses our distributor partner, Kidde Australia, to provide fire detection and suppression systems.
The challenge was to find a way to detect and suppress fire in the 11 switch rooms and 5 electrical cabinets in such a way that the solution could be supplied and installed in just 30 days.
To achieve this, the team designed a solution combining 151 Stat-X® condensed aerosol fire suppression generators of varying capacity and 16 Kidde XT 8-Zone Fire Panels, kilometers of digital linear heat cable and an interface to existing high sensitivity smoke detection (HSSD) units to deliver the level of protection required. There were a total of 49 cabinets involved.
An automatic fire suppression system minimizes the damage to the electrical cabinets and switch gear rooms by detecting and suppressing the fire. This reduces downtime and allows the facility to return to its normal activity.
