Stat-X® Protect Western Australia Mine from Major Damage

A Stat-X suppression system extinguished a fire in the high voltage switch room of a large piece of mining equipment in a mine in western Australia. The aerosol fire suppression system was one of a number of systems installed by our local distributor partner on mining equipment.

“The customer was pleased with the Stat-X system which quickly extinguished the fire and prevented further damage to the multi-million dollar machine,” said Tony O’Dwyer, manager of Chubb Fire Safety in Bunbury, Australia.

The Stat-X installation, was one of the first installations on a high wall miner, a large machine used to excavate the face of open cut mines. Our distributor, Chubb, installed Stat-X fire suppression systems to protect a high voltage (HV) switch room and the lubrication room on these machines.

The fire detection and control system quickly detected the fire that started when a breaker caught fire in the HV switch room and automatically discharged the Stat-X aerosol generator, immediately extinguishing the fire,” Tony said.
